Prioritizing Health and Wellness

For the first time in its history, men and women of Ascension St. Vincent are joining together to establish a political action committee (PAC) inspired by the Daughters of Charity. Established in the spring of 2024, the 1881 PAC will support, on a bipartisan basis, candidates for Indiana statewide, legislative, and local offices who share the PAC’s vision for high-quality and cost-effective health care for all, especially the poor and vulnerable.

Associates of Ascension St. Vincent, as citizens of the Great State of Indiana, may voluntarily contribute to the 1881 PAC.  Please email 1881pac@gmail.com with questions.

Join our Mission

On April 26, 1881, four Daughters of Charity arrived in Indianapolis at the invitation of Bishop Francis Silas Chatard to establish a Catholic hospital in the thriving capital city.

The Daughters of Charity, founded in 1633 by St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac in Paris, France, represent a legacy of advocating for social justice for the marginalized and underserved, embodying solidarity and advocacy to promote systemic change.

As the landscape of healthcare has changed over the last 150 years, St. Vincent Hospital developed partnerships with both religious and lay organizations, necessary to grow the mission to serve the State of Indiana.

Contributions to the 1881 Political Action Committee are not deductible for federal income tax purposes.
